  1. From poster board, cut out large pumpkins. You can offer 2 shapes so participants can choose. Punch a hole in the stem of the pumpkin.

  1. Cut tissue in small squares. Separate by color. Cut the chenille stem in half.

The video shows the hands of a lady, placing clear plastic cups filled with small square colored paper in each. The colors are, from left to right, green, pink, blue, orange, purple, yellow, pink and tan.  The lady folds the green chenille in half, cuts it at the bend for an equal size, with the scissors.

  1. Cut black construction paper into triangles of differing sizes. Provide extra paper for add-ons.

  1. Fill your pumpkins with colorful tissue paper. Glue a small area of the pumpkin at a time. Overlap the tissue paper, so no white poster board shows through. Remember – this is your Great Pumpkin creation and be any color you like!

A video shows the short and wide pumpkin cut out, with a ladys hand placing pieces of a light and dark, small green squares on the stem of the pumpkin. The small paper is hanging off the pumpkin stem and she is folding and gluing it to the back of the pumpkin stem. She continues to glue more small green squares below the stem of the pumpkin and then glues, yellow on one row. The next row is pink, then a couple row of blues, a couple rows of purple. The last row is random purple and yellow squares glued on. The clear cups with all the small color paper, are placed nearby in the work station to grab and go quickly when gluing them to the pumpkin. The glue stick was nearby or in the ladys hand for quick gluing.

  1. Glue on triangles to form the eyes, nose and mouth. If you like cut out and add more features, like a hair bow, mustache, or ears.

  1. Wrap the chenille stem around a pencil to make it coil. Slide off the stem. Insert the stem through the pumpkin stem’s hole, and twist it in place.

Video shows a lady’s hand wrap the chenille stem around a pencil to make it coil. Slide off the stem. Insert the stem through the pumpkin stem’s hole, and twist it in place. The pumpkin was turned right side up to show the final results.
